Roxana and Robb exploring The Grove Motel

Big news, Cool Kids — The Grove Motel just went Hollywood… well, Canadian-wood! Our retro gem in Colchester was chosen as a filming location for Bell Fibe TV1’s brand-new original series Landmarks & Lunch, which debut this week. And guess who rolled into town? None other than Robb Wells — aka Ricky from the legendary Trailer Park Boys. Yep, that Ricky. 🍁🍻

Roxana and Robb sharing some Motel stories.

The concept of the show is simple but delicious: Canadian icons meet at small-town landmarks, share meaningful meals, and spill stories over lunch. And when it came time for the producers to choose a “landmark,” they picked us! (Cue happy dance.

Fun Grove-y Facts About the Shoot

  • Robb’s favourite comfort food? A Halifax-Style Donair – a meaty, saucy shoutout to his East Coast roots.
  • His favourite room at The Grove Motel? Room 13: The Happy Camper. Maybe it’s the retro, camping-esk vibes, maybe it’s the lucky-unlucky number, but hey — Ricky always did have a soft spot for chaos.
  • The Den at The Motel and Joe Hot + Cold doubled as a set, and let’s just say the neon lights have never looked so glam.

What’s Landmarks & Lunch All About?

Hosted by Roxana Rangel, the series pairs Canadian personalities with local landmarks and the comfort food that makes them tick. Think travelogue meets talk show, with a side of Canadiana charm. Along with Robb, the lineup includes Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall), Sook-Yin Lee (actor, former MuchMusic VJ), and Richard Peddie (former MLSE prez).

So grab a donair, pour yourself a drink, and tune in. Who knows? You might just spot your favourite Motel room on screen.

PSL – A Love Story In Five Spices

Every fall, a mysterious force grips the nation. Leaves change, sweaters appear (usually), and otherwise reasonable people begin whispering the letters that launch a thousand Instagram stories: “P-S-L”.
